Olam is a niche player in the Beans industry, catering to requirements for direct human consumption, as well as the animal feed industry, in select destination markets. We leverage our origination strengths in key producing countries to meet our customer's requirements across a range of products including red and white kidney beans, field peas, lentils, and chickpeas.

Olam's entry into the beans business was initiated through our origination presence in East Africa, which had an existing trade flow into the Middle East and Indian sub-continent. Starting from this niche trade flow, we quickly expanded our distribution presence in the Indian Sub-continent as well as expanding into other consuming markets in South and North Africa.

We have leveraged our origin presence in China, Russia, South and North America to expand the portfolio of product and service offerings to our customers. Apart from our direct infrastructure in various origins, we are also engaged in sourcing the product from select suppliers in many countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Uzbekistan, China and Ethiopia.

Although we still consider ourselves as a niche company in this industry, we see tremendous opportunities for growth in the future. We are seeking to expand our product portfolio as well as our origin and market spread in the coming years.
